The Reception at The New West Art @ The Hynds

The reception at The New West Art @ The Hynds was well attended.  This is yet another venue to help get the Hynds building to be the new art center in Cheyenne.  My friend Glen Garrett is working so hard to make this a reality.  He is the complete back bone of the LightsOn project.  The Hynds building has been vacant for the last 25 years, and Glen and a few people in Cheyenne are very committed to bring art to Cheyenne.

Glen is almost single handedly bringing the arts to Cheyenne. He is tirelessly spending all of his time raising money and restoring the Hynds Building, which has been empty for over 25 years. He is trying to make the Hynds Building into an Artist-in-Residency program, offering programs to the University of Wyoming, Laramie County Community College and to high students in our area. Anyhow, we are lucky that Cheyenne has such a huge art supporter. And I am so lucky to have Glen as an art support also. Thank You Glen, for everything you do!!!

As you look at the pictures you will see that the Hynds Building still needs a lot of work.  I love it’s industrial retro rustic look.  It reminds me of the 1985 sci-fi comedy cult movie Brazil, starring Robert De Niro.  I love this movie, and that is probably why I love going down to the Hynds.

Here is a movie still from Brazil. It's a great classic if you have not seen it.

It’s been a slow process, but it will be well worth it when it’s done.
